Protective Case Compatibility for Different Yet Similar BlackBerry Models

RIM has released some exciting new models recently that add great functionality to the previous models, but carry the same physical characteristics as their predecessors. So many BlackBerry cases that are compatible with earlier models to maintain compatibility with new ones. To clarify the case of compatibility issues with newer and older BlackBerry devices, I have created a list of frequently asked questions about the case of compatibility issues that may help (and perhaps save some money on a new case ).

Case compatible for Blackberry Updated Models

Curve 8500 Curve 9300 series vs. series

3G BlackBerry Curve 8520/8530 to refresh the curve and has the same physical dimensions and accommodation. All cases of Curve 8520/8530 will fit the new Curve 3G and vice versa.

Tour 9630 vs Bold 9650

Tour 9630 and Bold 9650 share the same dimensions and accommodation. It is worth noting, however, that the LED indicator on the newer Bold 9650 is a move only slightly. Even with these changes, it should not cause any usability problems when replacing the case on these models, the move was so small. FYI - Open face cases like Incipio Feather or Snap Seidio Innocase not cover LED indicator, so no problem

.

Bold 9700 Bold 9780 vs

size and placement are identical in the two BlackBerry models, and all cases for the Bold 9700 Bold 9780 will fit without problems.

The original Storm vs. Storm 2

Storm 9500/9530 (original Storm) has a slightly smaller width, which causes compatibility problems with newer Storm 2 cases. Storm 2 cases will fit the original Storm the Storm 2 larger, but the fit will be tight and may cause damage to the underlying case when the device switches to the case. On the other hand, cases that are designed for the Storm will not fit through the Storm 2 due to slightly smaller than the original Storm. Leather covers should fit on any Storm or Storm 2, since they usually come in several pieces and have a little more room to adjust to different sizes ..

Curve 8300 series housings

RIM this one a bit more complicated. Physical dimensions on all these models are identical, but the LED indicator on the curve 8330 (only this model) has been moved. Therefore, all cases designed any of these models are hot swappable, but if it is open in the face of the case, the LED indicator can be covered on the curve 8330th

To work around this problem, some manufacturers simply open LED indicator area to be fully compatible in all the curves 8300 models. Other manufacturers make two different case styles, one for the Curve 8300/8310/8320 and one for the curve 8330.8350i BlackBerry Curve is also part of the Curve 8300 series, but has its own distinct dimensions. Cases must be designed specifically for the 8350 curve to fit and will not fit the other Curve 8300 series models.

Be careful when swapping items between the different models. Make sure that the case has a snug fit, or you may damage your BlackBerry, and not to protect him. Hopefully, this list has helped to clear up any misconceptions about the case of compatibility between the growing number of BlackBerry devices are released.
